Font Stack Builder
Build a role-based CSS font stack with practical system fallbacks.
Online Tool
Typography gives words a voice.
.text-style {
font-family: "Fraunces", Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;
}The preview uses the first available family on your device. A fallback is used when that family is not installed or loaded.
Tool Working Principle
CSS font-family lists are tried from left to right. If a preferred family is unavailable, the browser uses the next installed family and eventually the generic family such as serif or sans-serif.
Step-by-Step Usage Tutorial
- 1Choose the kind of type role you need.
- 2Optionally add a preferred family name.
- 3Preview the sample and copy the font-family rule.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account to use Font Stack Builder?+
No. Every tool on TypeTempo runs fully in the browser with no account, email, or API key.
Is my input text stored anywhere?+
Tool calculations use the text in your browser, and the app does not send that input to the TypeTempo application server. A preview may still request font files or other assets from an external provider; those requests do not include the text you entered.
Can I use the output commercially?+
You can use generated text and CSS in personal or commercial work. If a result depends on a named typeface or third-party asset, check that family's or asset's licence before using or distributing its files.
Which browsers are supported?+
The tools are designed for modern desktop and mobile browsers. Font rendering and individual CSS or Unicode features can vary, so check the specific result in the browsers and devices you support.
Does the preview download a custom font?+
No. It tests the families available to the current browser and device. To use a web font, load it in your project before applying the generated stack.
